Chissick Chat, part twenty-eight, with Alison Clarke

Today I'd like to welcome Alison to my blog. Please can you introduce yourself and tell us a little about yourself and your books?

I am Alison Clarke, award winning young adult fantasy author of The Sisterhood Series. I won the award, 2016 Writer Of The Year by Diversity magazine for The Sisterhood, Book One Of The Sisterhood Series. Book Two of my Sisterhood Series, Racine, was nominated for Book Of The Year. The novel just came out on July 1. The Sisterhood is about the daughter of a sorceress, and her best friend who is a dragon, and the journey they go on to save the universe. Book Two, Racine, is about a 19 year old protagonist who, on a visit to the Library Of Congress, goes on a magical odyssey to discover her mystical beginnings. The importance of friendship, teamwork, and love for humanity are some of the inherent themes in my novels.

I am also a founding member of Chapter.con, a book convention in London England that just took place in August, and was organized by my publisher, Little Bird Publishing House. It was a fabulous way to meet fantasy authors from around the world, as well as ones from other genres.

I was also happy to meet my publisher, as she is from England, and I live in Canada. I was also a panellist talking about the importance of diversity in young adult literature, as well as participating in a group book signing, which was the premiere of Racine, Book Two of my Sisterhood Series.

What, or who, inspires you?

Nature inspires me, as well as T.V., movies, books, travelling, space, and so on.

Do you enjoy reading the same genre as the one you write in?

I do. I enjoyed the Harry Potter novels, and I have also read Stardust by Neil Gaiman.

Has any of your research taken you to an unusual place?

No.

What are you working on at the moment?
